LicenseControl is the software capability that
LicenseControl is designed to meet multiple, somewhat opposing, requirements:
- keep the compliant user in control of their software, system and privacy
- provide easy-to-use product-activation mechanisms
- provide "pretty good protection"/anti-piracy mechanisms
Underlying LicenseControl are a some fundamental philosophies:
- leave the customer in control of their licensed software, as much as possible
- enable a user to verify the content of all information that originated on their system and was sent to the licensing server
- provide a pragmatic balance between ease of use, usage restrictions and anti-piracy mechanisms
Frankly, we don't like that it's necessary to have product activation schemes to prevent software piracy. We are focused upon producing a software-activation capability that impacts the legitimate user as little as possible.
Candidly, we'll feel we've accomplished our mission when users generally have the opinion "well, I guess if we have to use a product activation mechanism, I'd prefer that it be LicenseControl."
