Test LicenseControl's Basic Capabilities

After you get the demo application, the following steps will help you understand the basic capabilities of both LicenseControl and the Vendor Services web site:

  1. Log into the demo Vendor's account (username is "demo" and password is "demo")
  2. Click on the Search link in the sidebar, to the left
  3. Now run the LC_Sample application you're testing and, if required, launch the LicenseControl application
  4. activate a license for the LC_Sample application
    • copy/paste the LC_Sample "e-store" demo application License ID into the "Provide/Paste a Licensing ID:" entry field
    • press LicenseControl's "Next" button
    • with the "Activate the License" radio-button selected, press the "Next" button
    • agree to the simulated Software License Agreement
    • press the "Next" button when you're notified that "The license is activated."
  5. Back on the search page in your web browser, click on the number link in the LIC column for the "LC_Sample Demo Users" Customer/registrant
  6. Click on the Licensing Requests link to see your license-activation transaction
  7. On the LicenseControl panel, select the "Show the Status of this Application's License ID" and press the "Next" button
    • Click on the triangle under "Licensing Information" to see additional detail
    • Press the "Next" button
  8. In your web browser, click on the "Show Licensing Info Transactions" link in the Licensing Requests report to see your license information transaction
  9. De-Activate the license (enabling you to move that license to a different system)
    • select the "De-Activate this Application's License (I'm Changing Systems)" radio button
    • press the "Next" button
    • press the "OK" button to acknowledge the confirmation message
  10. Attempt to Re-Activate the license ... not allowed because that system's not currently licensed!
    • select the "Find this Application's License and Activate It" radio button
    • press the "Next" button
    • agree to the simulated Software License Agreement
    • press the "OK" button to acknowledge the failure message
  11. Refresh the Licensing Requests report to see the license de-activation and attempted re-activation transactions

You get the idea — simple but very capable!
