Why

Sometime in the year 2001, Sarah got this crazy idea to cycle across the country. I've always wanted to do something adventurous like this. So as the idea kept coming back up to the surface of things Sarah would like to do, I finally said, "If you want to do it, start organizing it." Sarah talked to people she knew who'd done it and got some more details and found that even non-cyclists had done the trip.

In January of 2002, Sarah and I booked ourselves a one-way flight to Halifax for the summer. The tickets were non-refundable, so we were going. No ifs, ands, or buts.

In the following months I finished my degree and we began to prepare by buying lots of gear including a bike for Sarah, cycling clothing, and a tent on eBay.

It turned out to be a great trip, but I don't think we understood how big the trip would be. 3 months of living on our bikes, eating pasta, canned soup, and dehydrated foods, and meeting some amazing people. Mustin't forget that we saw our whole country and visited many of the major Canadian cities with our only home for 3 months being our tent.

More to come...
